Set painting that is to be cleaned on a piece of paper in a well ventilated area. Remember to wear rubber gloves to protect your hands from harsh chemicals. You can build your paint box using strips of wood or plastic. Before you initiate the cleanup process, be sure to test at the corners.

Now you must take the neutralizer and apply it to a piece of cotton. Now use to gently clean the surface of the painting from all types of dirt and dust.

Once done, you can use a cotton swab to test the corners of the painting with emulsion cleaner and varnish remover. This would help to resolve the products that work best for cleaning oil paint. Shortly after each test, remember to apply some neutralizer with a fresh cotton swab and wipe over the area of paint that must be neutralized.
